The People that Count

by Thomas K. Hunt

A thought crossed my mind
I thought about our time
Remembering your smiling eyes
I hope you took a piece of me
I like to leave them behind
Put one in a thought for free
Store it in your mind
In your life day to day
Think it sometime
For that moment show your grin
Think of all the good times again
Those were the days
Remember when

Take a piece of me
It's mine to give
Keep it in your heart
For as long as you live
I'll always be with you
You know who you are
As long as you live
As long as there are stars
Take a piece of me
It's yours to take
This is life
This is no mistake
You've crossed my mind
I've seen you in dreams
You make me smile
Every night, it seems
Take a piece of me
I have a piece of you
I took it when you weren't looking
But I'm sure you knew
It's attached to my soul
Living safe and warm
Down in my deepest hole
Safe beneath the storm
You're a part of me
You made it that way
From the very first touch
On that very first day
You've been in my heart
Right from the start
You're behind my smiling eyes

Very nice Thomas. Reminds me of my own loved ones.
