her eyes look like regular eyes
her teeth look like regular teeth
her face seems a regular face -
no hint of the horror beneath.

her voice seems as dulcet as any
she seems to have two legs, not eight
- but listen and look a bit closer
and then scramble, before it's too late

for her teeth are like daggers
her eyes, empty holes
she screams like a banshee devouring souls
and she knits
and she weaves
and she squats in her nest
and dispatches her victims with gleeful zest

so be careful, dear reader -
I know she seems harmless -
just watch you don't feed her
or you could end up armless.
