secrets he keeps

by Carissa Dewey

the secret he keeps
while we are
apart

at the empty lake house
from younger years
his presence is each room
his memory stored there

the strength
to stay within the
paneled walls
fallen flies on floors
and must looming

empty bedrooms
sheetless beds

are the secrets he keeps
