Euterpe's Entreaty

by Mae D Morey

Euterpe's Entreaty

My blood is ink
on vellum page
the softest sigh
of words uncage
with whispers deft
the silence sage
tales are woven
sight unseen
so close your eyes
and follow me
-
feign don't blink
for I'll be gone
and with me take
the muse's song.

Don't be hasty,
do be quick
the echoes won't
last all that long
so bleed me dry
before the dawn.

Author's Note: Just a bit of drivel - I haven't really written anything in an awful long time.

Actually, far from drivel in my books. I love the subtle vampire tone of this, and how it applies to poetry. Poets are like vampires, "we don't settle old scores...we harbour them."
