Susurrus by Jeffrey ParrenSitting quietly at my desk
(an evermore infrequent event)
I find peace in a thought
as it whispers in my mind.
A subtle weekend stirring
in a bed that is mine
but somehow unfamiliar.
I roll over to see
my life's companion
I've yet to meet.
I lean over and supply
a profound morning susurrus.
I can almost make out the words
that I bestow upon captive ears,
but that's not important.
As the sun cascades
upon soft skin, her chest
heaves within eagerness.
Was it a haiku?
A senryu?
Did I conjure up a sonnet
on the spot?
Everlasting curiosity
feeds my beating heart.
The warm embrace
of a possible moment
gently grasps my hand
and walks me into the future
willingly. 05/16/2013 Posted on 05/16/2013 Copyright © 2024 Jeffrey Parren
