For 10 Minutes

by Joe Cramer

I was married
to you
for about ten minutes
that seemed like an eternity.
I tarried,

whew,

then, it was over.
The minutia,
despite your spite
finally set me free.

The nightmare over,
my head under cover.
Your drunken stupor
was all I could abhor.

Love that pause and "whew". Ten minutes seeming like an eternity - nice contrast. Thanks for this.
