One Winged Angels

by Sandy M. Humphrey

halo's tilted
feathers
wilting
a little
worse for
wear

flights of
fancy
earthbound
angels
two made
quite the
pair

darker
angels
stirring chaos
no runway
lights
no safe
landings
here

one winged
flyers
limping
into the
unknown
in search
of the next
wing's
embrace

someday
mended
to return
and meet
wing to
wing
face to
face

brighter
angels

forgive

remember

why they
flew
so well
in the
first
place

Beautiful piece of work, Sandy. Quite profound.
