Breaking her heart by Steve Michaels"I didn't write it for you." My
words scattering her
thoughts like frightened flies
postured aggression melting
into whiskey whine
She stubs out her cigarette, scratches
a lying earlobe and
smiles. "Sure you
did!!" screams and
bolts
I turn back to my chiming smartphone
"No, no I didn't."

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 03/19/13 at 02:31 PM I like poems that retain a semblance of mystery about them and whoever these words were written for, they are wonderfully expressed and would tempt anyone who reads them to say, surely they were written specifically for me, the reader that is. |
