Beware The Giant by Chris Sorrenti
Too bad
the man with the magic beans
didn’t warn you about the giant
who lives in that castle in the clouds
Didn’t warn you
he’s ugly and mean
hates lost children who trespass
like vermin
scurrying between the legs
of his giant furniture
Didn’t warn you
once you’ve climbed up
he’ll knock you right back down
or worse
try to eat you
Didn’t warn you
when you’ve fallen to Earth
if you survive
how your head will ache
when it hits the ground
the only way to stop the hurting
is to go back up again
cause you’ve heard the magic harp play
seen the goose
that lays the golden eggs
Too bad
the man with the magic beans
didn’t warn you
the giant would come down
looking for you
