Magpie by Ronald A PavellasThe local magpie family is rebuilding their nest, high in the nearby alder tree overlooking the lake.
One of them is picking at the low bush near our apartment window, testing out several twigs until she selects one and flies back to the nest.
And thus the eternal cycle renews itself, right in front of our eyes—if we keep them open.

| Posted by George Hoerner on 03/08/13 at 01:42 PM Ah yes, keeping the eyes open is the difficult part isn't it! All too many of us go through with our mouth open too much and our eyes closed too much. Good write. |
| Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 03/08/13 at 02:40 PM Ron, we have been watching the same scenario outside our bedroom window. The magpies are popping off the small pencil width branches from our big dawn redwood and carrying them back to the top of a cedar. I can't believe how many branches they have amassed. I think they are our most entertaining birds. Happy Spring. |
