Lemons for Ice Cream

by Dan Linn

Found her sucking lemons and calling it ice cream,
she had wished for honey and found it in a dream,
Refused her medication believing it their plan,
to make a sorry life more unpleasant if they can.

To prove that she is right, she slips away at night,
before anyone can find her, she's already in full flight,
Mind on over drive, she starts in eating speed.
an attempt to lap herself, went to smoking weed.

She came hard down, face flat on the ground,
her trip to merry town, had no one else around.
In a hall of mirrors, confrontation did occur,
as her own worst enemy, was very clearly her.

Witty capture of what they used to call back in the 60s a bad trip. The unforced rhyme and rhythm add impact to the high or low. :)

...don't we all know her? "There's no time to lose, I heard her say-Catch your dreams before they slip away..." A precise and painful portrait of a willful train wreck...thank for the write...lk
