The T-Shirt

by Joe Cramer

I got the t-shirt,
and I wear it too
proudly in fact
as if I should do
something else,
anything else
but write to you

it ain't no wife-beater,
that type of cheater
could never be me.
Can't you see
what I am trying to say?

Screaming at you with silent voice
as if I ever had a choice, anyway.
It has a cool logo, something about NYC
and John Lennon, though it ain't so pretty.

I got the t-shirt,
that was about it
I quit
while you flit
away from me.

In the immortal words of another poet I know: ::Excellent::

What is that pushes away the love of poets? Do we speak the truth too often? Do we lay our hearts open on a kitchen table and show our fear of loss? Or is it something we don't want to think of, like our writing comes before all else? Nice write Joe. The pain shows through.
