Past the Breaking Point

by Christel Crews

and they all thought she didn't have it in her
to work up the nerve and actually walk
she didn't have the courage
to look beyond the norm
she threatened
she complained
and they all listened
but knew deep down, she would never

guess they didn't know
she had a limit
a breaking point
and once passed it
even she wouldn't try to stop
the wheels from turning

and within the motion
she found peace
it just took getting to that point
where she couldn't
talk herself out of anything
and knew she was doing it for
herself
and not anyone else

Although you speak in the past tense, I sense a very powerful storm coming this way. Can truly empathize, having lived this poem in various ways at various times in my life. Kudos!

What is that makes us come right up to that point, look it in eye and say "Get out of my way". May you take that step what ever it be and walk into the rest of your life! Nice lady, nice!
