Parallel Lines by Chris Sorrenti
You
you say that I am following
your every move I have plotted
zeroing in my natural radar
look at me - I turn away
nothing more for you to say
but wonder if it’s coincidence
I’m there
or really meant to happen
You
you say that I am acting
reading words put down for you
is it not obvious I admire
the things you say and do
would it be surprising if I said
the lines of life you are reading
are really meant for me and you
You
you say that you don’t like me
I’m too far off for what is you
yet all the time I catch your eyes
in places they should never be
reading words put down for me
when you’ve forgotten your lines
You
you say that maybe someday
we’ll be friends
but I’ve never actually heard you
speak the words
you just keep them to yourself
even though you already know
I have gone and memorized them

Posted by Christel Crews on 01/23/13 at 02:20 AM oooooo... i'd love to know the story behind this one! such an interesting dialog for the reader. i felt like i was overhearing a conversation that i wasn't supposed to hear. beautiful write! |
Posted by George Hoerner on 01/23/13 at 12:59 PM Yes, Chris you know my life better than I do myself. Or is it that men somehow follow the same woman throught life never quite meeting just as those lines never meet unless they are redefined to non Euclidean geometry. Love the write as it comes direct from the heart. |
