come helios high water or suitors by Philip F De Pinto
before the world was round
before the sea equus
still anchored to your stable
and muzzling in your oat bag
was as yet taken to full galloping
away from the familial scene
before the sea train derailed
spilling all its marinade
before the one you hailed
upper and lowermost in your sensual regions
relied on second and third winds
to blow him back to familiar crests
before you had to fend off with yarns and knitting tools
the lingual jets of fools
turned up in the full - lambasting in your ear
you held your wanderlust near
before all these occurred and strange
no one ranged or ruled or rules
your flat world but he - no fool nor stranger to
sailing - skimming the knuckles of his prow
on the fjords of your spine
