minutely omened of an impending earthquake
and for the sake of precaution warned the swelled
in their late term to avoid the indoors and to remain
in the fields till it quelled.
to no avail. when the earth shook the swelled
collapsed in on themselves. the expectant husbands were crushed
not so much for their wives and not so much as the fetuses
who shall remain motherless and nameless as will
the earthquake who is never given a name as are hurricanes.
