Triple X Marked The Spot by Philip F De Pinto
it appeared to this man
who was wielding a club
which he affectionately called Billy
which he waved in my face
like a tsunami
that I should remove myself ( immediately )
from the premises of myself ( If I knew what was good for me! )
and to go about the business
of getting the shiftlessness and vagrancy of my tail
moving off this spot
which I affectionately called Triple X
this spot in which I was seeming to idle
it seemed to me that this man
who was waving a club which he affectionately
called Billy had never read Milton - ( On His Blindness )
the last line: They also serve who only stand and wait
in which I would add ( At respite within themselves )
till he is swayed by the wave of a club
which the man affectionately called Billy
from the spot which I affectionately called Triple X
symbolic of the three spots which I was saving in line for three fine felines
who had put him in Keatsian thrall
who had gone to the shop across the street
to spiff up their nails
who promised to return to the line in a jiffy
but try to explain that to the man with the club
affectionately called Billy
who he waves in your face like tsunami
