Talking to the Sea by Johanna MayI came to find myself here
to the sullen sea I said
I left the demon sitting there
to fill my empty stead
I sank my daily troubles
in the belly of her depths
that is already pregnant
full of fishes and their deaths
I cried about the jackals
nibbling edges of our sleep
and all the absent needed
presence that we cannot keep
of this and that I told the sea
already burdened by the sky
lacking a nose to snort at me
her many hands
waved me aside. 01/20/2013 Posted on 01/20/2013 Copyright © 2024 Johanna May

Posted by George Hoerner on 01/21/13 at 02:41 AM I like the write lady. And to who else should we write when the sea holds so many of our emotions, given to us at birth. As we all came from its depths. I've sailed some on the east coast and been pulled by the Coast Guard from a storm. It carries us and listens well though I'm not sure it really gives a damn. It is humans where we find contact/communication if we find it at all. |

Posted by Christel Crews on 01/22/13 at 03:33 AM so glad to know i'm not the only person who burdens the seas. this piece flows beautifully and yet has a realistic bite at the end. beautiful piece |
