exceedinly late by Philip F De Pinto
while I slept by your side
as I had countless evenings prior
the sun set sowing seeds
in the dark field of my reverie
for which to sprout light and guide
my way and back if I so wished
or I could follow that light to its zenith
and it is good I left that note
by your night stand
not to shake me awake
as I will be exceedingly late in rising
and so - if it is a fresh pot of coffee or love
you are desiring this morn
I think you had better get up
and brew them yourself
as your brew master will be removed
from those scenes
quite a spell

Posted by George Hoerner on 01/20/13 at 05:13 PM What a note to leave a loved one! I hear her scream and scream. I see the tears forming a river and raising the oceans and she cares not that she can't swim, only that you are not there. |
