One Man's Attempt To Cure The Lack Of Elixir Blues

by Philip F De Pinto

what better news
from the home front
and back my pretty Sasquatch
than to know your man's returned from the fox hunt
what better news
than to know he's come
to knock you up?
and knock himself down a notch?

what better news
than he's come
to remove the blah period
and insert the mad dash?
what better news
than he's come
to fulfill your lack of elixir blues?

and what better elixir
than commitment?
to offering you two scoops of his Gatling fun
the rat tat
in lieu of the usual rat!
the latter which he would hold back from you
just for fun

and have you noticed lately
but our solitary - Belle Dame sans mercy days of fun palely
loitering in the sun are defunct
and our take out the glue sticks and bind them
together forever periods have just begun
lest the bloody glue sticks have dried up
leaving you and I permanently blue?
and gone to pot

and believe you me
my pretty Sasquatch
I never meant to put you on hold
my winning hand to fold
to put you in between the rocky time we spent
together and the softer time we did not
in futile attempts to prove a successful business motto
which was location location location
to locate the gee in you and the gee in me
one man's and one woman's plum role
to fill a hole
wide as the ozone
but rather discovered that we had stumbled
upon our soft spot
which two can keep more tender
than one in love alone ever could

whats more
my pretty pinafore
I am knocking on wood
and hoping you are not sore
but I never meant to deal myself out
when you were just dealing yourself in
I had always meant to play that hand to the end
never meant to skip or flip out
when you were just skipping and flipping in
never meant to short change you
on the shape of things to come - and honey
I never meant
to squander the kid's college money
or the rent
I owed so many years in arrears which I spent
on things like the pot
I never meant to go to
but I did

and what better elixir
my cummerbund
than commitment?
to never again raping the kid's college fund
and to offering you a ring ding
to go along with the two scoops of my Gatling gun
in lieu of one

what better elixir
than to never let you go?
or let myself go
to pot again or have us waste
our remaining time on this plane
proving successful business models
having to do with locating locating locating in vain
the gee in you the gee in me?
the gees which like time are fleeting
and hard to grasp for the slick likes of you and I
the gee which on the face seems like such a waste
so let us not make haste toward unproven placards but remain in place

to remain in place
which holds such grace - such grace
as the blood remains in place coursing
within the heart and has not gone on its starry way
like some fading general promising to return from the fox hunt
but like sacred blood which never deserts but remains on the home front
and back - whose sacred vow my pretty Sasquatch
is to kick us both up a notch
