His Calling Card

is that he preys
and yours is
that you put up no defenses.
it seems you offer your meat willingly
which is a novel thing for meat to do
and in you it appears the norm - the standard
and still the predator in him is taken aback
as are his canines which wilt before such altruism
on your part - as putting up defenses was his foreplay
and prelude to his climaxing.
and what will become of one predator
accustomed to such defenses in his prey
who simply lays there offering her meat without fuss
what would a predator do with such meat
as becomes useless to wean his cubs who must have
the fear and the fright and the flight and the hairs standing on end in their meat
and not the calm and the bold confidence of such as would remain serenely put
and put up not the least defense - but goes clearly
to his maker sans the least objection?
