The Bucking Horse by Philip F De Pinto
the brood of furnishings is dated
and dusty so you say
so are the sad musty rags
which you would freshen and gladden
and it goes without utterance
that every lioness devours with white gloves
that her own brood
might live to see the day
such is itself dated and dusty
and you're right
I don't know what
sheets are
as you'll find no such
shroud reminders or other covert overtures
of white cumuli gracing - laden ever on my bed
but what you'll find
in its stead baby is a steady
down pouring of rapture
the entire spectrum
and a horse bucking for its oats in court
who gives a good buck and a good sheet about
you baby about you
and not whether you are
dated or not
or dusty
says one
rapt gladly round your finger
which is never impolite but ever pointing us
homeward to stalls
entirely our own
which neither will own
but two sharing steering equally
in directions to gladden the sad rag
or further to rue
in a skiff of a dream whose arrival
was long o'er due
