Once Like That Moon by Philip F De Pinto
two or more
constituted a crowd
so we melded into one
and became like the moon
once like that moon
we were one
one solid and illuminating component
of a singular purpose
too tight it seemed for love's opponent
the wind to slither through
and yet something like the wind
did manage to locate our seam
and widened our opus
when we began to doubt
what love was all about
severing the one in half
which on the face had all the appearances
of more - save you and I know the score
that more constituted a crowd
and as everyone knows
more than one is anathema to love
should the moon
with its welding torch
intercede in our behalf
running its flame along the widened seam
we shall be forever beaming and thankful for such solder as melds us whole
for as everyone knows
when it comes to love less is more
