I wager you'll not
stand pat but raise
your voice for encore
what's more
the first time
you love or rhyme a word
to couplet with love
love having no precedent fear or peer
to know which way to steer
will for all its failings
ultimately receive the clap
the applause it deserves
from the one hand clapping in the audience
which was missing a finger
I wager you'll not guess
it was the one bore the ring?
