The Choices We Make Dig Our Graves by Christel CrewsConsequences unknown
Decisions made with blindfolds on
Then cast in stone
Regardless of the emotions that change
Or the circumstances that alter
Who we are or what we want
Some resolutions
Leave us shackled
Legally, emotionally, physically, you pick
No key to unlock the padlock
Because it was thrown into the lion’s den
As soon as the line was drawn
Freedom within sight
But unattainable
To keep others happy
I surrender
So here’s the shovel
Go on, bury me alive

Posted by George Hoerner on 01/15/13 at 02:44 AM Legally and emotionally I understand without hesitation. I'm rapidly reaching the age where physically enters into it also. We all wear a blindfold either partially or completely. At some point it means more to keep ourselves honest to ourselves rather than making others happy. Unless it's end of life, we shouldn't allow ourselves to give up our own identity to please someone else. Each of has a first responsibility to our self unless we are dealing with the very young or disabled. Only you know that. Otherwise it just becomes another emotional shackle. If it be that, who are we really helping?? |
