To argue with Shakespeare would be pointless, but I must by Christel Crews"The course of true love never did run smooth."
to quote the famous bard
but before I go any farther, I must state my complaint
What is true love?
Is it not a myth that we were raised upon?
A tale spun over our cradles
to give us something to fill our dreams
a frail fable grasping to fill the need within
to belong
How could the course of true love ever run at all?
When we are plagued with baggage
from generations before
and we can not see past our own noses
of the world of hurt surrounding us
No, the play-write and poet was devastatingly wrong
or perhaps
he was only tapping into the fantasy
to earn that dollar
building the hopes of another generation
that true love, true romance, true passion
exists
but if life has taught me anything at all,
it is that brotherly love is true
familial love is deep
but true romance
only existed in our dreams
and its time we woke up

We are all raised upon this myth of existence and right and wrong. And we all jump in feet first like fish flying for water. It is our own folly to believe what we will and even to change it from time to time. |
