One For The Suggestion Box

what the world needs now is designated drunks
on a conscripted rotational basis of course
one or more strategically placed at every party
whether it be office, neighborhood, or family get-together
with a free pass for the night from political correctness
no cameras will be allowed to record the shenanigans
hold the gossip, for next week it could be you
and whoever’s turn it is, the booze comes at no cost
with designated driver, of course, to see you safely home
bottle of aspirin compliments of the house

01/07/2013 Author's Note: An oldy that I threw out or threw up on the stage so to speak, a subtle rant against what our world has become in terms of social behaviour, acceptance, and Political Correctness. All in all though, I think the world is a better place without the drunkeness I and many others knew in our youth.

I do not drink- do not like the taste of liquor. When I drove; I was ALWAYS the designated driver- not a fun assignment- drunks think they CAN and SHOULD drive rather than let a (inept) woman drive for them. I had keys thrown at me. I never backed down- after I had kids, I absolutely would not get in a car with a drunk behind the wheel- great reminder- wonderful write! |
