Dead Foliage, or Ode to the aged Tannenbaum

by Maria Francesca

Dead Foliage,
Dead Foliage,
You're sitting in my living room.
Dead Foliage,
Dead Foliage,
Your twinkling lights dispel my gloom.

We chopped you down
and brought you home
to celebrate
consumerism.

Dead Foliage,
Dead Foliage,
You're sitting in my living room.

Dead Foliage,
Dead Foliage,
Your needles clog my sweeper.
Dead Foliage,
Dead Foliage,
Your debris is getting deeper.

You're what we loved to sing about,
but now it's time
to throw you out.

Dead Foliage,
Dead Foliage,
You seem a little pointless now.

Author's Note: to the tune of 'Old Christmas Tree'...yeah, yeah - I know.
