waiting for my taxi holding thanksgiving groceries

by Gail Wolper

I sat in the corner
three bags of groceries
the wind came in from both directions
and made an eddy where I sat
leaves scratching at my face
when the taximan came
and said
'I'll get you out of that tornado!'
as he gallently saved
my precious little
cornicopia

Another fine thing to be thankful for, an observant, caring person.
