Four O'Clock Piano Hour at the assisted living facility

by Gail Wolper

by Gail Wolper 2012

O great piano player
Of musical scores galore
every broadway musical of the fifties and sixties
Hello Dolly, Fiddler on the roof
Burt Bachrach and fur elise,
you come one thursday a month
share your precious sixteen bars of every stale song
there ever was.
and easy on the pedal mister!
You made your point with fingers heavy on the minor chords
we understand your drama
O dreamer of broadway success
we understand
your sorrow

Exactly right. The desire to create without the gift. (Maybe they would let me read my poems in a spitting rage.)

A very interesting clip of this piano man. The dreary comes across well, and the lines about heavy fingers on the minor chords and drama are my favorites.
