Lovely Devastation, The by Tim J Bono
You are a lovely devastation to me.
A violent halcyon, beauty bomb.
A soft death to me.
You explosion of ecstasy, you grenade I adored
I covered you and spared the world.
The shrapnel in my heart bears lipstick marks.
The amputation of my limbs, the severity of love we were in.
The ringing left in my ears, shards of promises lodging for years
The blindness I now suffer, replaced with nightmares of you with another.
O the holocaust in my heart, the apocalypse of ache
I surrender, I surrender!
The genocide of my heartbeats, the mass grave of memories
Ballistic tranquility!
My detonated dreams, falling back on me
Implosions of emotions from kamikaze kisses
Strewn smithereens of secretly shared wishes
whispering “i love you” scenes now smoldering writhing charring pining images
the deformity engraved upon my visage
The scars of spirit, the stitches on soul,
Disfigured man unrecognizable
The gore of my love for you
the depth of my death with you!
I embraced you close, cherished you to the end
You blew me apart when I let you in.

Posted by Christel Crews on 11/16/12 at 04:29 AM such power and magnitude.. the imagery is perfect.. made me think of band of brothers meets romance. "The ringing left in my ears, shards of promises lodging for years" - kinda hits it on the nose for me right now |
Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 11/17/12 at 02:46 PM Wow, this doesn't let up and I can feel the total obliteration (I can't believe I could think of a word you didn't use :)) of the emotional soul. "I covered you and spared the world" - just a great line. You carried this hand grenade to the very end and went up in all its glory. Nicely done. |
