to the best days by Blair Meeksgoodbye to you -
to 9 years that
ended slowly,
the space between us
always growing,
your eyes like oceans
and the way our hands
fit together perfectly,
to nights where
sleep never found us,
talks that never ended,
kisses that always
felt new,
far away trips,
the feel of the ocean
under our feet,
to the many mountains
we climbed,
the animals we loved,
the moments of grief,
of loss,
that we pushed through
together,
to our own language,
dances,
jokes,
the days we should have
let go but couldn't,
or wouldn't,
because we thought
love was enough,
and it was,
for 9 years
but we both grew-
you one way
and me
the other
and when i found myself
reaching for your hands
you were gone -
your smile
faded
the sound of your
laugh
so far away.
here's to 9 years,
to the best days
of my life,
and the worst.
they were all worth it.
i miss you. 08/19/2012 Posted on 10/19/2012 Copyright © 2026 Blair Meeks

| Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 10/19/12 at 12:35 PM I love this ode. It describes to a tee the scenario I am presently ensconced in for which there is no cure or salve, save to continue to love. |
| Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 10/19/12 at 02:04 PM A really nice, engaging, stream-of-consciousness energy to this. Good stuff. |
