Labor Days

by Chris Sorrenti

I turn the days

one by one

pages

of my life

living a story

that has

yet

to be told

experiences

falling

into place

like

drops

of rain

I smile

at the sun

for the

inspiration

it gives me

as

I watch

the children

run

and play

the pages

of their lives

written

between the lines

in the

palms

of their hands

And still today

the rain

keeps

falling

dampening

the pages

one

by one

Gone

are the days

and ways

of the past

there's

a new poetry

rising up

from

the old

A beautiful mediation on all three.

The words fall like rain. Very good meshing of form and content.
