Disdainful Glance by Brian Francis
I’ve walked alone so many miles now
It often seems I’m on my own
In my dreams I share a happy life
My hearts embrace; devotion’s home
And yet awake I find a lonely world
Devoid of love or gentle touch
like a garment rend then tossed away
Trampled into dirt and muck
I walk alone through this barren place
This wilting hollow within my heart
What once grew bright so full of life
A drought of love has ripped apart
Yet, I stay; I dance and plead for rain
I scream I beg a primordial cry
A broken soul so easily borne
An ember of love refusing to die

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 10/15/12 at 03:03 PM It's amazing sometimes what poetry can come from just a glance. Really like the expression of soul here, forlorn and yet still hopeful. |
