I Just Read

by Joan Serratelli

just read….

that poet’s

are “made”

not born

I don’t remember

anyone teaching me

how to write a poem

I just did it

It probably

wasn’t any good

but I just kept

doing it

Occasionally I write

a good piece

more often

than not

I probably

write a

mediocre piece;

but IF I like it

that’s all that

matters

I think I,

like everyone else

has some

G-d given talent

My Mom wrote

maybe I got it from her

I would like to think

that I inherited her

strength; her

spirit

and just maybe;

a little of her
determination
...and...

incredible

talent

I love the comments about your mom. :)

I've often seen myself as born as opposed to made in the poetry department. Thanks for the well worded reminder, Joan.
