I Just Read by Joan Serratelli
just read….
that poet’s
are “made”
not born
I don’t remember
anyone teaching me
how to write a poem
I just did it
It probably
wasn’t any good
but I just kept
doing it
Occasionally I write
a good piece
more often
than not
I probably
write a
mediocre piece;
but IF I like it
that’s all that
matters
I think I,
like everyone else
has some
G-d given talent
My Mom wrote
maybe I got it from her
I would like to think
that I inherited her
strength; her
spirit
and just maybe;
a little of her
determination
...and...
incredible
talent

| Posted by Jody Pratt on 10/07/12 at 08:45 PM I love the comments about your mom. :) |
| Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 10/13/12 at 07:21 PM I've often seen myself as born as opposed to made in the poetry department. Thanks for the well worded reminder, Joan. |
