Her brief visit

by Steve Michaels

"Green is where the heart is," she whispers (tucking
my thin wallet into it's raggedy
nest) "and my heart is seeing only
red here baby." Cinnamon coated
kiss gifts my neck and
she's gone.

Lukewarm coffee frolics
with warming sun, day
is not over yet.

Love your commentary, love the perspective, love the way you quoted the honest words of a money-lover. Sorry if the encounter was real. Heh.

I love the efficiency in your words -- there's so much meat with great delivery (and I'm hoping I'm making sense tonight...but I'm loving your words)

I love everything about this poem, the words contrast so wonderfully well and create quite a vivid picture and the irony, is so perfectly evident and in that last line, the expectation, great or small as yet to follow.
