TV Trouble - Welcome to the Digital Age by Chris Sorrenti
Technology is beginning to scare me
welcome to the digital age
flat screen TV hooked up coaxially
to cable converter
but no display from the new VHS/DVD
A hundred ports on the back and side
things don’t plug in like they used to
there was a time I loved doing this stuff
but every attempt now only ends in frustration
and the instruction manual reads
like rocket science
written in five different languages
Technology is beginning to scare me
as it did my parents before
they made the jump from LP to CD
but never quite figured out the PC
Is it just me?
or have things gotten overly complicated?
egad! think I’m growing too old
to keep up with the toys
time to call in the cable guy

Posted by A. Paige White on 09/05/12 at 05:28 PM My husband and I joke around about it all the time. We just say we need to get a couple of the neighborhood teenagers to come over and fix whatever new technology it is that's outsmarted us outdated oldsters. I understand your frustrations! Been trying to get a friend of mine in a different state to use skype so we can do video calls and she can't figure out how to do it. No available teenagers around though. |
Posted by Dane Campbell on 09/18/12 at 04:42 AM I am 27 and have adapted to new technology for the most part, but this touches upon a thought I have had lately about the alarming rate at which technology is evolving and changing. I fear we are too reliant on technology and that we will one day have a rude awakening regarding our dependence on it and likely the invasions it will bring with future innovation. Thank you for writing this. |
