4. In the thick of it

by Julie Adams

In the thick of it, as they say
20 weeks
I am more arcs than anything now
my lines become cylinders
my vision more rounded
my belly gains buddha status
only now the world is accepting of it.

my nature to nurture evolves too
the world tosses and turns with me each night
and everything carries more weight
not just me
I feel for this earth anew
I align my world with hers—
gravity, motherhood, evolution

something that always was, and yet
unborn, until the light poured over us
until the gift of life unfolded
with us, and within
beyond us, and beyond,
in the thick of it, as they say
and merely germinating

i will look to all mothers
and the DNA of their collective intuition
kept safe, under flesh, out of sight
and let the binding tapestry of that heirloom
inspire the mother I am to become;
let that spirit of humanity, of beyond
envelope me, warm cold nights, and spark
an understanding
from the inside out

Oh my. You and the Earth...aligned and symbiotic as one nurturing a new birth, a new age. I love this!!! It resonates with a love that only motherhood fosters. You are this love, within and without.

Beautiful sharing of this experience.

Of all the feelings men and women can never share, this experience must be utmost...thank you, Jill, for opening the door on this beautiful corridor and illuminating it in absolutely lovely verse. I am in awe.

And by now m'lady you are in the 'thick' of it and will be for sometime. At my age I can say that because by now I have two children a boy and a girl both of whom have there own. Good luck!!
