Will I have a home

by Keith D Allison

The land is a changing
Cold the winds blow
the autumn is fading
Winter speaks my name

The silence echoes
on this trail
I walk alone
no warm breath
to comfort

I wonder
Yes
I wonder
about the words written
in the great binder

Most have forgotten
for I just pass through
will I know mercy
will I have a home

I like this piece and am reminded that regardless of how it all ends I know we will all be part of the particles, atoms, and energy that will remain forever in one form or another.

It's easy to feel lost in a sea of all matter, yet we maintain enough curiosity...to keep looking out there...hoping, wondering. This is gentle, calming, and full of quiet wonder. Thanks.

One of those simply laid out poems that has a tremendous outreaching impact to all humanity in its metaphors. Reminds me of Frost's The Road Less Travelled, but yours takes it to a whole new level, darker...forboding, and yet something each of deals with everyday.

PS: Sorry, that should have been Frost's The Road Not Taken.
