Excuse Me

by George Hoerner

this is
just to say
i‘ve known you
for many years

and without you
feeling a thing
i have

devoured each
and every
piece of you

it is the
after taste
i will carry
forever

There is an air of mystery to this that is quite intriguing. It's unclear if the subject of this poem is totally aware or totally unaware of having been devoured, and whether or not the voice likes the aftertaste or not. Very interesting write, George!

I think it is the way of all life, that it devours all the while it is being devoured. I think all life is typically aware that it is being consumed though it feign what is seeming to be an indifference. As always, George, your words consume the reader to think outer the proverbial box.
