music therapy

by Shannon McEwen

Sitting in this shadowed room
Shrugging off this lingering gloom

Reaching out to better thoughts
Battles won and depressions lost

Thinking of the very things
That cause my lips to lift and sing

In a very off key kind of way
Until darkness quietly slinks away

And I’m left only with your affection
In this shady afternoon reflection
