hitting the low notes

by Laura Doom

if you don't have the voice
why are you here
halfway to nowhere
wearing disinterest
like a ribbon?

give it up
cry freedom
bleed wisdom
breathe fire
burn me alive

Ah, Jeanne d’Arc, would you scream as the flames licked you or would praise the flames for setting you free? Nice write lady, as poetry should make the hair on the neck stand and the blood pound through the veins.

Intensely delicate, I can't decide if this is subtlety at its best or just wonderfully blatant. Thank you for sharing!
