At Last by Jody PrattThis is it, the edge of the Universe.
We passed all the stars,
all of them.
No asteroid, rock or speck of dust
has tread this path.
Look back, can you see... nothing, right?
We've gone so far past the brink
that the Universe is out of sight.
Do you feel empty or accomplished?
We did it together you know;
explored everything. There's nothing left.
I even moved time back and forth,
from before the beginning until
after all the possible ends.
I saw what you saw, and felt it. All of it.
All the ways the Universe could have done it.
Are you satisfied? 05/28/2012 Posted on 05/28/2012 Copyright © 2024 Jody Pratt

Posted by Angie Jenkins on 09/28/12 at 04:34 AM Wow...the meaning of this poem could be put in so many different contexts. Since I'm a sucker for analyzing relationships, I went that route with it - and I've had this happen! You take all the steps, you do everything you're "supposed to" do together, and yet, when all is said and done, if there's no passion, no driving love behind the actions, you won't know whether you feel satisfied or just empty. Beautiful poem, loved it. OH and since IM is being a big giant B I wanted to say I LOVED your comment on my previous poem about what truly matters in life (also thank you for the flattery - major brownie points there!). I'm quoting you and putting your comment as my status on Facebook so that you can forever be remembered by the masses :) |
