by Meghan Helmich

Thursday you got the purple roses
which is just fine.
No one was home to take off the wrapper
or make you ashamed of being a woman
who speaks in tears.
You say such wonderful things
as they steam down your face.

The old idea of a picture being worth a thousand words may be worth more here...yes, maybe more. The shame the speaker mentions hits me in the face as a masculine fist...but that is the mescaline talking....

Perfect last two lines. Brilliant.

I'm with Gabriel - those last two lines are just magic.
