Not Scared

by Joan Serratelli

Your jokes are as
old as time

Not funny
From now on:
You hurt me:
I'll hurt you

I robbed you
of the only pleasure
you seeem
to have in your life

I have found a way
to shut you up
and I will use it
as much
as possible

I will drive
you out

You will soon
become bored here

I am ready to fight
for my rights
as a human being

You have forced my hand
which now carries
a weapon

I cannot take
any more
ou have turned
my life
into a nightmare

and I have no
alternative
but to level
he playing ground

We have chosen our
weapons

I have a knife
(or 2)
You have a camera

We will see who wins

I have no respect
for men who terriorize
woman to keep
"her" in line

I will do what I want
I have nothing left
If you do not have freedom

You become a slave
I am NOT a slave

I do what I want
I live my life
as I want
by my own moral code

Do not tell me what to do
I will do as I want

No-one owns me
And it will
stay this way
until I die

"Freedom is
another word
for nothing
left to lose"

...and I have lost
every thing else
I will lose no more

You are not human
you have no power
you have nothing
I want
You have made my life
an intolerable hell
No More
it will end

I will get
my day in court

With the crimes
you have comitted
you'll never have
the ability
to hurt
another human being

And when the truth comes
to light
You terrorized me
for one reason

As you put it
"There is no-one
as handicapped as she"

Handicapped does not
mean stupid
It does not
mean helpless
and it certainly
does not mean
less human

You will pay
and you will
pay dearly

until the day yo die

I might be "haunted"
but what you did was
beyond horrible

You ruined my life
without regard for
my feeling.

I give credit to the late great Janis Joplin for her defination of Freedom . She knew what she talking about

This is very intense and direct in its message. I'm hoping the knife is symbolic. I admire the resolve expressed here and hope there are alternatives to dealing with a difficult situation.

A poem with intent and clarity. The stand you take can never be stolen from you. In these moments of strength is when we take those "two steps forward", and though it may be followed by "one step back" you still come out ahead..keep on "truckin'". Thanks.
