Entitlement to Untitledment by Amy Manning

Entitlement to Untitledment
Edict of Edits
the point at which the title
must come before the project poem
"Ladies and gentleman . . .
I am proud to present . . ."
reaching searching seeking poking prying pleading
no force so great as
the easy patient coaxing
peek but do not pry at yourself
"The deliciously infamous!"
name the self song
prior to discovering the melody
better to know its name
than only the content
"The titan in training!"
strike and slash line after line
to die a little death
juxtapose the juxtaposition
in retrospect of the idea
"Vulnerable and marvelous,
Splendid in rags!"
unintentional meanings
lyrical refugees
trudging across the page
sensitive as if in utero
"I give you . . .
the work. in. progress!"

Posted by George Hoerner on 04/15/12 at 06:07 PM A wonderful piece here young lady with a great deal of potential interpretation and use of form. |
Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 05/03/13 at 11:33 AM I echo George. You use language the way it is supposed to be used, not necessarily as a tool of communication but of pure expression. |
