Living Through Photographs

by Jersey D Gibson

I sit there distantly
living through photographs
awaiting the day I don't need a camera.

I sit here distantly
living through memories
made by someone else other than me.

I sit off in a distance
living out absently
time flies when you're not there.

I sit gone and distant
sitting in a photograph
just a reminder that I'm not there.

That third stanza is my favorite. It's a nice punch in the gut.

Wow! Very...hauntingly powerful stuff Jersey. From start to finish, and what a finish. Well done soldier, and I mean that with the deepest respect.
