the long lost golden evening (w/ Ava Blu)

by Morgan D Hafele

"What the fuck just happened?"

The darkness is unsettling. Her eyes
transcend. Her mouth moves with bittersweet
remorse.

I think we have a problem.

She moves with the skill of a surgeon.
His cuts go unnoticed, but she.
She wants to rip open his lungs, chew on
the air that fills them
and simply walk away.

Eyes ablaze, heart thumping
she can see he's no longer thinking with his heart.

She'd let him taste her.
If it wasn't so damn fun to tease.

but he's
helpless and she
is bored-to-death of these
tired boys and they're tired games.

If she
went for the throat
he would be spit out in disgust.

"What the fuck just happened?"
his thoughts shine in red. His hands
limp. She wants to take everything out on him,
let the rage from every man before,
every time someone told her she was a beast,
a thing to be broken, a thing to be torn to shreds,
she wants to replace their faces with his,
she wants to take him for everything he wasn't worth
and spin it on it's head.

But that's the problem,
boys being what they are,
not worth the pretty words
they let trickle from their
mindless mouths.

And he was broken before it really began.

Never has a cab ride and a shower
been so satisfying.

Author's Note: so this poem has been in the works for ages. mostly due to miscommunication on my part. :p but we finally worked out the kinks, and i think this is it. i really think this is the final version, but i could be wrong just because i've been having technical difficulties with my computer lately. either way, ms. blu is an absolute joy to work with. her words kick my ass and it is an honor to be left black and blue.

I like the drama here. Great closure in those last two lines.

Technical difficulties pale in comparison :> and besides, they don't deny us the satisfaction of knowing 'What the fuck happened next'...
