'droids

by Vivienne Grant

you may draw this out
as long as you like
i am unlikely to ever like you

the longer the stay the longer it feels
like a sentence
imposed by an unfeeling judge
who
without weighing the consequences
has sentenced me
to an unfairly indeterminate sentence

a test

of patience

which I am acing

if acing it means i have proved i have no patience

with you

your apparent lack of human qualities

of emotion
of consideration
of sensitivity
of normalcy

automatically makes you an automaton to me

and i don’t do ‘droids
