DBS And Other Fun~Part 2

by Joan Serratelli

...and the story contines

it was a hot July morning
my daughter was pregnant
and gone into labor
early that morning
I did not want to go

I went alone
which was fine
I knew I'd be home
later that day
but I did not want to
miss the birth

I got there
on time
and they wheeled
me down
to the operating
room

I argued about
the anesthesia
I wanted a local

I finally got my way
but I slept anyway

I woke up
about an hour later

in the all too familiar
recovery room

They took me to my room
I got dressed
and waited for my ride home

I called my child
she was home
her labor had ended
no baby was born

I ate my crackers
drank my juice
...and went home

...
and waited
for the next shoe
to drop
....
and because
I'm so lucky
.....
it would
